Title: The Analysis of Fouling Mechanism during Ultrafiltration of Laundry Wastewater using Composite Membrane

One of domestic wastewater that produced daily is laundry wastewater. The most content of laundry wastewater is surfactant. The laundry wastewater can be treated by coagulation, membrane filtration and combiation of coagulation-membrane filtration. This research study the fouling mechanism during ultrafiltration of laundry wastewater using ceramic composite membrane (CCM). The CCM was produced from natural zeolite and polyvinil alcohol (PVA). The results show that based on turbidity of laundry wastewater, the membrane has the rejection of 96.85%. The concentration of laundry wastewater has an effect the fouling mechanism. At the lower concentration, all models of fouling mechanism (complete blocking, intermediate blocking, standard blocking and cake formation) are satisfied to describe the fouling mechanism. At the higher concentration only complete blocking model is satisfied to describe the fouling mechanism.
